Storms rolled through Fayette County on Wednesday night, leading to Tornado Warnings for the northern half of the county for better than an hour.
The northern half of the county saw the strongest storms roll through during that time, leading to multiple Tornado Warnings. Each warning was for a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado and contained very strong winds and potentially large hail. Meanwhile, the central and southern half of the county not only did not see that round of storms, but even remained free of rain until during the 9 pm hour when heavy rains moved through Vandalia. And, one more storm during the 10 pm hour–after the Tornado Watch had expired–prompted a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the eastern half of Fayette County until 10:30 pm.
