(Chicago, IL) — Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza is running for mayor of Chicago next year. Mendoza officially announced her bid yesterday, nearly a year after she said wouldn’t seek another term as comptroller.
Mendoza unsuccessfully ran for Chicago mayor in 2019. Current Mayor Brandon Johnson hasn’t officially said whether he will run for a second term. Other candidates in the race include Congressman Mike Quigley and Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas.
