(Princeton, IL) — Illinois State police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Bureau County. Authorities say officers responded on Sunday to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 27-hundred block of East Street in Princeton. Officers were informed that a person was armed with a knife and holding several people hostage, including children. Officers entered the home and shots were fired. The suspect and one child were hit by gunfire. Both were sent to the hospital, where the child was pronounced dead. The man was charged with aggravated unlawful restraint, domestic battery and aggravated assault. Further charges could be pending.
