During the storms on Monday night, the Vandalia Fire Department was called out to a structure fire.
Vandalia Fire Chief Zac Stombaugh says the call was to the 1400 block of West Jefferson Street. He says crews arrived to find that a large tree limb had fallen on the electrical lines of the house and tore the service off of the house. And, during that event, something inside the house energized and started a small fire on one of the floor joists. Chief Stombaugh says crews were able to knock it down quickly and help ventilate the house. He says they had about 12 Fire Fighters on the scene for about 30 minutes.
