For several years now, there have been complaints about the lights in downtown Vandalia not being bright enough. And, the City of Vandalia is working to figure out that problem.
Speaking during our podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Doug Knebel says they have been running an experiment with some lights downtown and think they may have found a solution.
Mayor Knebel says they know that the downtown period lighting just doesn’t put out enough light for good vision during many downtown events.
One concern brought up was that the new lights are more of a “white” light compared to an off-white from the old ones–and the question was would the new lights attract more bugs. But, with bug season almost upon us, it looks as if they will find out that answer very shortly.
