Illinois Unemployment Up Slightly

(Springfield, IL) — Illinois’ unemployment rate is up slightly. The state Department of Employment Security says the state’s jobless rate in January was four-point-nine-percent, up point-two-percentage points from December. Non-farm payroll jobs jumped 18-thousand, the largest monthly increase since June 2023.

In Fayette County, the turnout for the March 17th Primary Election was just 25%–that is despite having early voting for 45 days prior to the election, along with mail-in ballots and other options.
