(Chicago, IL) — Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is warning the public about a surge in text-message scams. Giannoulias says scammers will impersonate the Secretary of State’s Office and demand payment and personal information.

Giannoulias urges Illinoisans not to click on any links. Illinoisans are encouraged to screenshot the text and email it to the Secretary of State’s office.
