(Mattoon, IL) — Video footage of an officer-involved shooting in Mattoon last month is now public. State Police released the body cam footage of the incident back on February 13th, when officers responded to an armed robbery. The video shows officers coming up on 38-year-old De’von M. Coleman-Canady, of Kalamazoo, who was inside an SUV saying he was going to take his own life and that he “was not going back to prison.” After an officer attempts to grab the assault rifle from the vehicle Coleman-Canady was in, the passenger door closes and a gunshot can be heard on the footage.
