Fayette County has officially sold the former Washington School building.
At Tuesday night’s meeting, the Fayette County Board approved a bid of $36,000 from Durbin Rental Property for the former school building at 301 S. 8th Street in Vandalia. The county has owned the property for quite a few years and some other potential plans for the property never came to fruition. There was still discussion last year about the possibility of using the property as some potential expansion for the courthouse and jail, if that would have been possible. But, it was later determined to sell the property and seek bids, with the board accepting that highest bid on Tuesday.
