(Effingham, IL) — One woman is being cited after a train hit a vehicle in Effingham. Police say a vehicle driven by Lauran Mathis was hit by a cargo rail car Tuesday night near Temple Avenue and 4th Street. Employees from Equity were pushing multiple rail cars across Temple Avenue at the time of the crash. Mathis was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. She was also cited for Disobeying Traffic Control Device.
