Multiple topics were discussed at the January Saint Elmo City Council Meeting. The first item on the agenda was the approval of updating the city’s utility billing to CUSI. When discussing the need for the software update, Saint Elmo Mayor Kim Baron said that she felt that it would be beneficial to the city if they went with software that would be helpful for all ages.
The next item discussed was the approval of purchasing a Glock 47 for the Police Department for $1,099.67. The last topic the council approved was the purchase of new barricades and cones from Progressive Chemical and Lighting for an amount of up to $ 1,500. During December, the Saint Elmo Police Department responded to 45 calls for service, had 10 officer-initiated activities, 1 agency assist, 12 building checks, 13 traffic stops, 4 citations, 9 warnings, and 2 arrests.
