We will be returning to winter weather by the end of the day and tonight.
We will start out the day warm with a high of 68. Showers and thunderstorms will be likely today with winds from the south gusting better than 30 miles per hour during the day today. Then, a cold front is expected to push through the area this afternoon. That will bring winds from the west and push us all the way down to a low of 18 for tonight.
Meanwhile, we remain with a chance of severe storms for this afternoon. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says a strong cold front will bring gusty winds and a brief round of showers through the region this afternoon. There is a 30% chance that thunderstorms develop within the showers along the front, but if they do develop it is likely (70%) that a few will become severe. Any thunderstorms that become severe will be able to produce damaging winds or a brief tornado. The most likely time for our area to see storms will be the mid afternoon hours today.
