When working to recruit businesses to Vandalia, Mayor Knebel says it take more that just traffic figures and data

When you are working in a smaller city, it is a much different proposition to recruit businesses to your community.  And, it often takes more than just traffic figures and data.

Speaking on our podcast “Talking About Vandalia,” Mayor Doug Knebel says it takes telling the story and sharing community information to get the prospects to engage.

As for the former Kroger building, Mayor Knebel says they do believe they have a strong possibility for that building and should know more early in 2026.  The building was donated to the City of Vandalia and was accepted at last week’s Vandalia City Council meeting.
