The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office handled a single vehicle accident with an injury early Wednesday morning.
The report from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred at 12:42 am on Wednesday morning on Illinois Route 185, 1 mile east of N 350 Street. Report says the vehicle, which was driven by 26 year old Joseph Carrington of Hillsboro, was traveling east on Illinois Route 185 when the vehicle left the roadway east while navigating a curve that turned southeast. The vehicle then struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to become airborne and flip end over end multiple times, coming to a rest on its roof in an open field.
The report indicates that driver, 26 year old Joseph Carrington, was transported by Rural Med EMS to Fayette County Hospital where he was treated and flown out by helicopter due to injuries. The driver was also ticketed for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Improper Lane Usage and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. The report says the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Vandalia Police Department and Rural Med EMS.
