YMCA announces expansion plan, Vandalia Mayor says lots of money being invested in community in past few years

With an announcement of a further large expansion in Vandalia, Mayor Doug Knebel says there is a lot of money that is being invested in the community and has been over the past few years.

Earlier this week, the Family YMCA of Fayette County announced on social media an expansion of their campus into an additional 16 acres between the Y and Kaskaskia College that would be known as Unity Park.  Speaking on our weekly podcast “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Doug Knebel says there’s been a lot of investment in the community over just the past few years.

And, he says he believes there will be a lot further expansion coming in 2026.
