St. Elmo-Brownstown boys basketball kicked off National Trail Conference play with a 57-53 win over Neoga at home on Friday night. The Indians got the upper hand in the first quarter, outscoring the Eagles 14-10 but a 20-11 run in the second quarter, fueled by a trio of three-pointers in the quarter, had SEB on top 30-25 heading into the locker room at halftime. A 12-7 run to open the third quarter saw the game tied up at 37-37 but SEB would close the quarter with a 40-38 lead. The game would remain tight through the fourth quarter with SEB able to pull their lead out slightly, but Neoga again closed the gap quickly but the Eagles held off the Indians for the 57-53 win. SEB moves to 1-0 in the NTC and are now 4-2 on the season and will get right back into action today as they play at Tri-County at 1:00pm.
