The Altamont Lady Indians have started the season strong with a win over Vandalia and holding off a very experienced Marshall team for a win on Friday night to go 2-0 during the first week of the season. Altamont will now face a tough field at the Bob Kerans Tournament hosted by Newton this week beginning with Effingham tonight at 6:00pm. The Hearts were earlier this fall reclassified to 2A after being at 3A since basketball went to the four-class system. Effingham is 2-1 on the season, beating Robinson to open their season before falling to Breese Central and then beating Dieterich. After the Hearts tonight, the Lady Indians face host Newton on Tuesday at 7:30pm who is 2-0 on the season with wins over Fairfield and Windsor/Stew-Stras. Altamont wraps up the week taking on Flora at noon on Friday.
