Eight Vandalia Jr. High and three Vandalia High School students have been chosen for the Illinois Music Education Association’s District 5 Honor Ensembles set to perform this Saturday at Eastern Illinois University. VJHS band members Owen Goodman (alto sax) and Gabe Lewis (trumpet) will be a part of the junior band ensemble. VJHS chorus members Haylo Pearson and Kaylee Phillips will be a part of the Junior Chorus while Hollace Eckhardt, Jacob Gipson, Chloe Mills, Tannor Smith and Pearson and Phillips will be a part of the Junior Vocal Jazz Ensemble. For the High School portion, VCHS band member Dashel Whiteman (trombone) will be a part of the Senior Orchestra while VCHS chorus members Chaya Briggs will be in the Senior Chorus and Andey Klitzch will be in the Senior Treble Choir. They will all perform as part of the District 5 Junior & Senior Concert Festival at EIU’s Doudna Fine Arts Center.
