Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel is encouraging everyone to head to downtown Vandalia this Saturday for the Veteran’s Day Celebrations.
Speaking on this week’s podcast, “Talking about Vandalia,” Mayor Knebel says he hopes everyone can come out to honor our Veterans and also to see the continued improvement at the downtown Veteran’s Memorial.
To start off the day on Saturday, there will be a free breakfast for Veterans at Shelly’s Burger Station in downtown Vandalia–that is courtesy of Shelly’s and the Vandalia American Legion Post 95. That will be from 7 am to 9 am.
Then at 9 am, there will be a Memorial Ceremony at the Veteran’s Memorial in downtown Vandalia. Mike Funneman, the 23rd District Commander of the American Legion will be a guest speaker.
Then, there will be a Veteran’s Parade to begin at 11 am on Gallatin Street in downtown Vandalia. All Veterans are encouraged to attend and any Veterans that want to walk in the parade are welcome to do so. They are just asked to meet at the top of the hill by the Fayette County Jail.
