South Central baseball ended their Friday night in dramatic fashion with a 10-inning walk-off win over Neoga, 3-2, under the lights at Lions Field in Kinmundy. The Cougars got on the scoreboard early as Garrett Shumate scored on a sacrifice fly from Chase Guerrettaz to take a 1-0 lead. They would add on to that lead in the bottom of the third inning as Guerrettaz doubled to gather his second RBI on the night and put the Cougars up 2-0. In the top of the sixth inning, Neoga would load the bases on two walks and a hit by pitch and a bases loaded walk would bring in the Indians first run and cut the South Central lead to 2-1. One batter later, Neoga would scores on a single to tie the game up at 2-2. With neither team breaking through in the seventh inning, the tied game headed to extra innings. Each team would put runners aboard in both the eighth and ninth innings, but would be held scoreless, sending the 2-2 game to the tenth inning. Neoga was three up and three down in the top of the inning, giving way to South Central for the bottom half where the Cougars had Hudson Moore draw a leadoff walk before Guerrettaz doubled to left field to put runners at second and third. Luke Shumate was intentionally walked to load the bases and they stayed that way after the Cougars got their first out on a pop out to left field. Colton Tockstein then hit a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Hudson Moore to tag up at third and come home for the game winning run. South Central moves to 6-11 on the season and will have a quick turnaround to be back on the field as they will at T-Town this morning at 10:00am for a Varsity/JV doubleheader.
