(Springfield, IL) — A man faces animal cruelty and battery charges following an incident involving police over the weekend in Springfield. Police say officers were dispatched Saturday night to the 22-hundred block of Yale Boulevard, where K’Shawn Rush was witnessed hitting and choking a dog. The animal was believed to be stolen. Officers attempted to arrest Rush, who began to struggle and attacked his girlfriend for trying to remove the dog from his possession. Rush was eventually taken into custody. Video of the incident has been released.
