(Springfield, IL) — Governor Pritzker is vowing to protect Texas House Democrats who fled to Illinois from Texas authorities. Speaking yesterday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Pritzker said Texas rangers are welcome to visit the state of Illinois, but they can’t arrest anyone and take them away.
His comments came hours after a bomb threat at a secure hotel in St. Charles forced the evacuation of 400 guests. The guests included dozens of Texas House Democrats who left their state to stop Republicans from voting to re-draw the map that would give them five more pickup opportunities ahead of 2026.
