For many years, Vandalia and surrounding area residents have noticed a distinct difference in the gas prices here as compared to prices in Effingham. And, although the City of Vandalia has no control over the price of fuel here, they always hear from residents about it and wonder what can be done about it. Speaking on this week’s podcast, “Talking about Vandalia,” Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel says it’s simply more gas pumps in Effingham helping to drive down the prices.
And, Mayor Knebel says the more competition and more pumps we have in Vandalia and the surrounding area, the better it would be for the area’s gas prices.
According to gasbuddy.com, Vandalia has prices are $3.19 per gallon this morning, compared to $2.92 per gallon in Effingham. Vandalia is significantly cheaper than Greenville today, who has a price of $3.29 per gallon.
