(Williamson Co., IL) — State police are identifying the man killed in an officer involved shooting last week in Williamson County. Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Friday to a report of a male suspect that forced entry into a home on Drake Road. A female inside the home confronted the suspect, who then fled into the woods. Deputies searched the area and arrived at another home on Pleasant Valley Road where they located Jesse Shelton of Marion. Authorities say he pulled out a firearm and pointed it toward multiple deputies. A deputy then shot Shelton, who was pronounced dead at the scene. State police are investigating the incident.
