The resurfacing project for a section of Randolph Street in Vandalia–which was originally set to start earlier this month–may be delayed until July.
During last week’s Vandalia City Council meeting Engineer Lee Beckman told the Vandalia City Council the contractor could not get the products he needed to begin the project.
The project location will be on Randolph Street from Sunset Drive to the driveway at Capitol Pointe Apartments. The project will be split into 2 stages—one will be from Sunset Drive to Dynamic Dental and the second will be from Dynamic Dental to Capitol Pointe Apartments. Stage one will be from Sunset to Dynamic Dental. One lot at Dynamic Dental will be open at all times. And, the City of Vandalia has completing the laying of rock and brush removal to complete alleys behind some homes who would otherwise have no access to their homes during the project. It was originally estimated the project would take about 30 days to complete once they get started.
