Altamont softball got one more regular season game in on Monday and picked up a close 3 to 2 win over Oblong. The Lady Indians outhit the Panthers 8 to 1 in the game and three of those came in the bottom of the sixth inning. Trailing 2-0, Altamont got a leadoff single from Cecilia Pearcy and with one out, Sophia Pearcy singled to put runners at first and second. Madison Tonn singled to bring in C. Pearcy to score and cut the Oblong. Runners advanced to second and third on the throw and the next batter, Sophia Long, laid down a bunt and courtesy runner Haley Arend and Tonn both came in to score as the Lady Indians took the lead, 3-2. A groundout and a flyout ended the inning for Altamont. Pitcher Grace Lemke made sure the Panthers would not put together a comeback as she sat down Oblong on three straight strikeouts to end the game with 19 strikeouts and to close out the win for the Lady Indians. Altamont wraps up the regular season at 18-9 and will take on CHBC on Wednesday in their postseason opener in the semifinals of the Windsor Regional that will be played at Stewardson-Strasburg High School at 4:30pm.
