It was a banner year for soybean farmers in Illinois. The Illinois Soybean Association reports that Illinois farmers set a new soybean production record in 2024. According to data from the United Stated Department of Agriculture, Illinois farmers produced 688 million bushels of soybeans, surpassing the state’s previous record of 666 million bushels, set in 2018. ISA Chairman Ron Kindred says the bounty may help other industries to flourish.
The statewide average yield was 64 bushels per acre, a slight increase from the year before. The total cements Illinois as the #1 soybean producing state in the country.
