The Altamont Lady Indians got out to an early lead, but could not hold off a late comeback by the Woodlawn Cardinals as they suffered the 47 to 43 loss on Saturday. The Lady Indians used a pair of three pointers from Ella Nelson and Reagan Kuenstler and another three points from Avery Aldrich to get out to a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Another pair of threes in the second, from Kuenstler and Sophia Pearcy and Kaylee Lurkins’ first four points of the game edged the Altamont lead out to four points, 21-17, heading into the locker room at halftime. With another five points from Aldrich and six points from Kylie Osteen in the third quarter, the Lady Indians lead became six points, 36-30, at the end of the quarter. Woodlawn would find a bit of a scoring groove in the fourth quarter while Altamont was held to just one basket from the floor and struggled at the free throw line going 5 of 14 in the quarter as the Cardinals were able to fight their way back and hand the Lady Indians the 47-43 loss. With the loss, Altamont drops to 8-9 on the season and will be back in action at home on Monday as they will host Marshall.
