Three Individuals were arrested on Sunday night in Fayette County for Aggravated Speeding and Reckless Driving.
A report from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says that on September 15, 2024 at approximately 10:40 pm while on routine patrol on US Rt 140 a Fayette Co Sheriff’s Deputy was met by three motorcycles traveling at approximately 76 mph. The deputy then turned around to catch up to the three motorcycles and initiate a traffic stop. Once close enough the deputy activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the three motorcycles. The motorcycles then picked up speed and fled at very high rates of speed leading the deputy to terminate the attempted traffic stop.
At approximately 11:12 pm another Fayette County deputy observed the three motorcycles traveling east on I-70. The speed the motorcycles were traveling was reported as 140 mph and greater. Two of the motorcycles exited at Vandalia exit 61 and the other motorcycle continued eastbound. An officer from Vandalia Police Department was able to conduct a traffic stop on the two exiting motorcycles. Deputies arrived on scene and an investigation into the identity of the third driver and the previous incident was conducted.
Aa a result of the investigation it was determined that these were the same individuals from the previously attempted traffic stop. The third driver was also identified, and all three subjects, 25 year old Austin Hebenstreit of Vandalia, 29 year old Alexander Rees of Vandalia and 22 year old Alexander Dunn of Vandalia were arrested for Aggravated Speeding 35+ and Reckless Driving. After being processed all and issued citations all three subjects were released with pending court dates.
