Railroad Track work is set to begin in Vandalia on Monday and will lead to detours.
The railroad work will have the crossings at S. Remann Street, North 8th Street and North 5th Street closed to start with and will remain closed for a few days. City Administrator LaTisha Paslay reports they will be detouring Remann and 8th streets to 6th Street and will detour 5th Street to Kennedy Boulevard. It is expected the work will take 1 to 4 days with multiple spots closed at the same time as the workers will complete 3 miles per day.
Meanwhile, once the work in Vandalia is completed, they will be moving on to work on the railroad track to the east. Next will be the railroad crossing that is located north of Bluff City that will also lead to closings and detours.
