County clerks shared their concerns with an Illinois task force looking into the possibility of changing how elections are conducted.
The Illinois Ranked-Choice Voting and Elections Systems Task Force has been meeting to discuss the idea of voters being able to rank their preferred candidates in a runoff-type of system.
Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray attended the most recent task force hearing. He worried about the costs. Election administrators are focused on transparency and expedited results, he said.
The task force is to produce a report with the idea of utilizing the system for the 2028 presidential primary election.
