One Alderman brought up the issue of signs potentially cluttering up the city’s right of way at last week’s Vandalia City Council meeting. And, it led to a fairly lengthy discussion on the matter.
Alderman Bret Brosman brought up the issue at last week’s Vandalia City Council meeting.
It was confirmed that city ordinance does not allow signs to be in the right of way. But, Mayor Rick Gottman said that it can be tough to determine was is the right of way, especially on streets that do not have sidewalks. And, City Attorney Ryan Connor said recent court decisions have further complicated the issue.
The matter was discussed for a bit longer and there was some mention of a future work session to potentially hammer out a new city ordinance that would go along with the court decisions.
