A rain and snow mix looks to be over the area for the next couple of days.
Our forecast for today calls for rain and snow with a high of 44. Then, rain and snow likely for tonight with a low of 33 with little or snow accumulation expected.
The latest Situation Report from the National Weather Service in St. Louis light accumulating snow is likely (70 to 100%) today and tonight, with most accumulations expected between 6 PM tonight and 6 AM tomorrow. Accumulations in MOST areas will be limited to less than one inch on grassy/elevated surfaces.
However, a narrower corridor of heavier snow between 1 and 3 inches will be possible (40 to 60%) in areas to our west. Where the heavier band of snow sets up, it will be a wet, heavy snow, which will cause slushy conditions on roads in that area.
The Report adds that any snow our area would get from this system would be heavy, wet snow. The NWS says we have a 39% chance of getting up to 1 inch of wet snow and an 18% chance of getting up to 2 inches of snow.
