Some in one Illinois county are fed up with the Land of Lincoln and would like to join another state. Jersey County board member Eric Ivers isn’t holding his breath waiting to see his request for the southern Illinois boundary line to be changed to allow the county to officially become part of Missouri come to life. None of that has stopped Ivers from doing what he thinks is best for the people of Jerseyville by proposing his plan.
Ivers argues many downstate residents have long more identified with the policy and values of residents in red states like Missouri.
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul has already publicly come out in opposition to Ivers’ succession talk.
