During their meeting on Monday night, the Vandalia City Council discussed siltation issues at Vandalia Lake and also possible dredging working in the future. Engineer Lee Beckman of Milano & Grunloh Engineers was addressing the City Council on a number of projects. Alderman Bret Brosman asked about dredging and how could you come up with where to get started.
One specific property that had a major siltation issue was referred to multiple times during the discussion. Mayor Rick Gottman said you would have to budget each year for that work and Beckman also added you would need to take a look all around the lake at the various issues.
Alderman Russ Stunkel, who is the head of the Lake Committee, says there are some noticeable issues with siltation around the lake and he stated it is much easier to view those issues from a boat. But, Brosman pointed out that even having a survey might lead to some more issues.
Mayor Gottman suggested the Lake Committee coming with a plan of action and have Beckman on hand for the meeting.
