New Illinois group holding meetings later this week

The group New Illinois will be holding a series of meetings coming up later this week.

New Illinois will hold meetings in Red Bud, Murphysboro and Golconda.  The closest of their meetings to this area will be held on Saturday, June 24th at Crossroads Church at 340 Walnut Hill Road in Centralia.  The meetings will be from 1 pm to 3 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm on Saturday.

New Illinois is an organization pursuing formation of a new state separate from the current state of Illinois, Chicago, and urban Cook County.  The events will feature a presentation by G. H. Merritt, who is the state chairman of New Illinois.  Representatives of Illinois Separation, a separate group working to place an advisory referendum about the state split on county ballots, will also be in attendance.
