The Vandalia High School Summer Baseball Team started off their summer schedule with 2 wins over Salem at Vandalia Mutual Field on Monday evening.
In Game 1, the Vandals got a 5 to 4 win over Salem. The Vandals fell behind early when Salem scored 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning. But, the Vandals bounced back and scored 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st. The inning included a hit from Kohnor DePew, HBP of Andrew Kelly, a walk to Carson Lotz and then a tripled by Aydan Jones. The Vandals would get the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 5th inning.
In Game 2, Vandals were 16 to 6 winners. The Vandals trailed 6 to 1 in the 4th inning before they scored 8 runs. They would add 5 more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning which included a walk off triple by Kohnor DePew.
