The South Central Lady Cougars took down Vandalia,12-4, in the second game of a Vandalia softball doubleheader on Thursday. In a game scheduled a few times and rained out already, the Lady Vandals stacked up non-conference opponents at home, taking on South Central in the nightcap. The Lady Cougars would score one run in the first but Vandalia would get that run back, tying the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. South Central offense took off in the top of the second with six runs for a 7-1 lead before the Lady Vandals pushed two runs across to cut the Cougar lead to 7-3. The South Central offense kept rolling in he third inning with four more runs for a 11-3 lead. The Vandals grabbed another run in the bottom of the third to cut it to an 11-4 ballgame before the offense would stall for both teams with three scoreless innings. South Central would get one last run across the plate in the top of the seventh inning and hold the Vandals in the bottom of the inning to close out the 12-4 win. South Central was led in the game by Jaylyn Michel who was 5-5 at the plate with two doubles and three singles.
