(Chicago, IL) — Two state officials will be in a Cook County courtroom this morning to clarify what the state can pay for without a budget in place. Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Comptroller Leslie Munger will both seek guidance from a judge after Madigan filed an action last week. Madigan has said that state law prohibits paying for all government services if a budget hasn’t been approved. Munger is expected to ask for a court order to allow Illinois to continue funding the state’s payroll.
