One of the architects behind the SAFE-T Act and cashless bail is now pushing legislation which would permit more prisoners in Illinois to become eligible for parole. State Representative Justin Slaughter’s bill would allow a person serving a life sentence to become eligible for parole. Slaughter says older prisoners should be able to earn their freedom.
State Senator Jason Plummer says nothing surprises him anymore when it comes to criminal justice reforms in Illinois.
Plummer said he is hopeful that they can sit down with all parties and talk through the dire impact these directions can have on innocent people around Illinois.
