Energy prices in Illinois are increasing, and Republican lawmakers are blaming the governor for aligning the state toward alternative energy sources. This week, Ameren Illinois said they are looking for rate increases due to the state’s switch to renewable energy. The Illinois Freedom Caucus, made up of several Republican lawmakers, said Pritzker’s politics are to blame. State Rep. Chris Miller leads the caucus.
State Rep. Blaine Wilhour says these increases are also hurting businesses in Illinois.
According to Save On Energy, Illinois households pay an average monthly payment of $125.58 for their electricity bills.
