The South Central Middle School Falcons’ softball season has come to a close after a 3-0 quarterfinal loss to Bloomington Corpus Christi at the IESA 1A State Softball Tournament in Normal on Friday. The game was a pitcher’s duel the whole way with the Falcons being no-hit by BCC’s Kampbell Niepagen who tallied 18 strikeouts in the game. South Central’s Maddie Peddicord went the distance for the Falcons and while her strikeout numbers were not flashy like Niepagen’s, Peddicord allowed just 3 runs on 5 hits and gave up just one walk across her strong 6 innings of work and gave up just one extra base hit, a double to the first batter she faced in the game. South Central will finish their season at 19-6, but this year’s 2022 squad will always be in the South Central Middle School softball record books as the first team to win a Sectional title and earn a trip to the State Softball Tournament.
