A new report shows union membership is up in Illinois just as opponents of Amendment One warn the measure will give too much power to unions. According to the Illinois Economic Policy Institute, Illinois gained union members last year even as the number of workers in unions declined nationally.
That is executive director and co-author of the report Frank Manzo. This November, Illinoisans will be voting on a measure that sponsors say would guarantee workers the right to collectively bargain for wages, hours and working conditions. But Jacob Huebert, president of the Liberty Justice Center says it is a scam.
Huebert says the measure can’t do anything for private sector employees because of federal law.
