Runs were far from hard to come by in an Egyptian Illini Conference baseball battle between Brownstown-St. Elmo and Mulberry Grove on Wednesday with the Bombers pulling out the close 14-12 win over the Aces. Errors also stacked up in the game with 16 in the game between the two teams. Mulberry Grove took the early lead 3-0 after the top of the 1st and led 5-2 at the end of the 3rd inning. The BSE offense kicked in during the bottom of the 4th inning with the Bombers putting up 7 runs in the inning to make it a 10-9 ballgame, with BSE trailing by a single run. The Bombers would tack on 5 more runs over the next two innings while holding Mulberry Grove scoreless to hold a 14-10 lead going into the 7th inning. The Aces would put two more runs on the board n the top of the 7th but would fall short as BSE close out the game and the 14-12 win. BSE is now 4-3 on the season and 1-0 in the EI Conference while Mulberry Grove is 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in the EIC. BSE will next host South Central on Friday while Mulberry Grove will be back home on Thursday to host CHBC.
