(Peoria, IL) — Illinois‘ representation in Washington is weighing in on the topic of gun control. Republican Representative Darin LaHood of Peoria says he supports legislation he believes the Republican-led House will introduce that will address mental illness as a way to address gun violence. LaHood says current gun control laws should be enforced. Democratic Representative Jan Schakowsky and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin say they support amendments that were recently rejected that would ban gun sales for felons, the mentally ill and people on the no-fly list.
