The longest serving Mayor in the City of Vandalia will add 4 more years to that record. Rick Gottman was re-elected Mayor for the City of Vandalia in Tuesday’s election, getting 423 votes to 369 votes for Challenger Alex Sasse. Gottman says he is thankful for his supporters.
During the election, Mayor Gottman said he wanted to be re-elected to help see several projections to fruition for the City of Vandalia. And, he says he’s excited he will now get to do that.
As for being elected Mayor for a record 6th term, Gottman says he is humbled.
This was the closest race that Gottman has had, winning by just 54 votes and Alex Sasse says he is proud of their showing and thankful for his supporters.
And, Sasse says he will be back to run for office in the future.
Only 920 ballots were cast in the City of Vandalia, which is only 19% turnout. And, there were only 792 ballots cast in the Mayor’s race.
