For the first time in 15 years, South Central volleyball will play for a Sectional Championship. The Lady Cougars weathered a big storm with a comeback win over Carlyle in the semifinals on Tuesday night and now they are set to take on Okawville in the Sectional Championship Match tonight at 6:00pm at St. Elmo High School. It is the first trip to a Sectional Championship Match since 2011 when the Lady Cougars won the program’s first and only Sectional Championship over Altamont in two sets. South Central enters the match at 26-8 and have won their last seven in a row. Okawville is 24-12 on the season and winners of their three postseason matches after going just 1-4 in the final five matches of the regular season. The winner of tonight’s Championship will advance to the Okawville Super-Sectional on Monday night to face the winner of the Crab Orchard Sectional Championship between NCOE and Trico.
