The Vandals were able to get on the board early and often on their way to a 42 to 6 win over Hamilton County in their First Round Playoff Game at Mark Greer Field.
The Foxes won the coin toss but decided to defer to the second half, giving the Vandals the ball to open the game. The Vandals quickly drove down the field and got a 3 yard TD run from Qwentyn Stombaugh with 9:20 remaining in the 1st quarter. After Hamilton County went 3 and out, they punted to the Vandals. Kobe Lux would turn that punt return into a 50 yard TD with 7:15 still remaining in the 1st quarter–giving the Vandals a 14 to 0 lead. Brody Matthews would have a 2 yard TD run at the 2:55 mark of the 1st quarter and Stombaugh would have a 66 yard TD run with 1:06 left in the 1st quarter, giving the Vandals a 28 to 0 lead before they ever got out of the 1st stanza of the game. The Vandals would add one score in the 2nd quarter and one more late in the 3rd quarter to get the game to running clock for the final 13 minutes, on their way to the victory.
The Vandals now advance to the Second Round of the Playoffs and will head on the road next Saturday at 1 pm when they will take on the Nashville Hornets. Both teams will come into the game at 8-2 on the season. After losses today by Hillsboro, Greenville and Pana, the Vandals are the final remaining team from the South Central Conference in the playoffs.
