Showers and thunderstorms will be with us today. And, we have a threat of severe weather this afternoon and this evening.
We will see showers and storms for today–more prominently this afternoon–with a high of 75. Winds from the south will gust as high as 45 miles per hour this afternoon. Then, showers and storms are likely tonight with a low of 62. And, south winds will gust better than 30 miles per hour tonight.
There is also a severe weather threat for the area this afternoon and this evening. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says showers and thunderstorms will gradually taper off this morning ahead of a cold front moving east. The NWS says depending on the cloud cover and location of a warm front, sufficient instability may redevelop to bring a conditional threat for severe weather this afternoon across most of the region. They add that all severe weather hazards–large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes–are all possible. As for a timeline, the NWS says the storms are expected to arrive in our area between 4 pm and 6 pm this afternoon and potentially exit the area around 8 pm tonight.
