We hear again today from Vandalia Mayor Doug Knebel about Data Centers. Earlier this year, a group made a presentation to the City’s Economic Development Commission about the possibility of a data center locating here. Since that time there hasn’t been a lot more discussion on the matter locally. But, regionally and nationally, potential data centers in others parts of the county continue to make headlines. Speaking on our podcast “Talking About Vandalia,” Mayor Knebel says he knows this is a very polarizing topic. And, if the city did want to move to the next stage with this, there would be a lot of discussion and fact gathering during that time.
As of now Mayor Knebel says he believes the company that is potentially interested in a data center locating here is studying to find out if there is the availability with the local power grid. He says that make take some time to complete. So, there is very little news on the local front at this time.
